Requirements

Players must have a WR4GD Pass and a Handicap Index® not exceeding 36.4.

Format

54 holes stroke play with a cut to be made after 36 holes to the following: 

  • Top 20 overall men and ties 
  • Top 10 overall women and ties
  • Top 3 men and ties from each Impairment Category
  • Top 2 women and ties from each Impairment Category
  • Any player within 5 strokes of the leader in their Impairment Category

Qualifying

Qualifying, over 18 holes, will be conducted in the spring at sites to be determined.

2025 Championship

Kipp Popert, 27, of England, and Kim MooreBailey Bish, 44, of Battle Creek, Mich., captured the men's and women's overall titles in the 4th U.S. Adaptive Open at Woodmont Country Club's South Course, in Rockville, Md. Popert joined an elite fraternity of players to have captured three consecutive USGA titles, including Tiger Woods, Juli Inkster and Hollis Stacy. Popert, who was born with cerebral palsy and competes in the neurological impairment category, won by 12 strokes over inaugural men's overall champion Simon Lee. Moore, who competes in the lower limb impairment category, edged defending champion Bailey Bish by three strokes. To read more, click here.

Maryland and the USGA

This will be the 26th USGA championship conducted in Maryland. The most recent event was the 2025 U.S. Adaptive Open. The 2021 U.S. Girls' Junior was held at Columbia Country Club, in Chevy Chase, won by Rose Zhang.
