Jon Brown, 55, Adel, Iowa

  • No. 1,225 in World Amateur Golf Ranking/WAGR
  • Competing in his 11th USGA championship and first U.S. Senior Amateur
  • Round-of-16 victory over John Adams in 25 holes tied the second-longest match in championship history
  • Holds 11 Iowa Golf Association victories and was inducted into Iowa Golf Hall of Fame in 2013
  • Two-time Iowa Amateur champion (2006, 2019), two-time Iowa Mid-Amateur champion (2008, 2016), and two-time IGA Player of the Year (2004, 2006)
  • Serves on the IGA Hall of Fame Committee and Rules & Competitions Committee, and has served on the IGA Board of Directors since 2018
  • Area sales manager for Union Bank & Trust Co.

  • Won the 2022 Pennsylvania Senior Match Play at his home club, Carlisle Country Club
  • Won the 17th GAP Frank H. Chapman Memorial Cup in June
  • Three-time Harrisburg District Amateur champion and two-time Harrisburg Open champion
  • Season ticket holder for Penn State football, where his son, Jordan, graduated from and his daughter, Leah, is a rising senior

  • Won the 2013 U.S. Senior Amateur at Wade Hampton Golf Club in Cashiers, N.C.
  • Low amateur in the 2012 and 2013 U.S. Senior Opens
  • Qualified for the U.S. Amateur in six different decades (1970s through 2020s)
  • Played college golf at Kent State University, where there is a scholarship in his name
  • Inducted into the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame in 2019
  • Competed in two U.S. Amateur Four-Balls (2017 & 2019) with fellow quarterfinalist Bob Royak

  • Made a 25-foot birdie putt on the final hole to win the 2022 English Senior Men’s Amateur Championship in May
  • Won the 2021 Scottish Senior Men’s Championship and the 2017 English Mid-Amateur Championship

  • Lost to eventual champion Billy Mayfair on the 20th hole in the quarterfinals of the 1987 U.S. Amateur at Jupiter Hills Club
  • Has played in four U.S. Amateurs, two U.S. Mid-Amateurs, one U.S. Senior Amateur and one U.S. Senior Open (2022)
  • Won the 2022 Florida State Golf Association (FSGA) Senior Amateur Match Play and Golfweek Senior Player of the Year Classic
  • Named the 2021 FSGA Senior Player of the Year
  • General manager of Jackson’s Bistro Bar & Sushi in Tampa, Fla.
  • Has owned and operated restaurants for 25 years

  • Played in three U.S. Senior Opens (2014, 2019, 2021)
  • Won the State Open of Virginia twice (2008, 2011)
  • Captured the 2014 Virginia State Golf Association Senior Open
  • Board-certified eye surgeon and ophthalmologist who performs 20-30 surgeries per week
  • Played golf for three years at East Carolina University
  • His brother, Tim, is the director of operations at Riverfront Golf Club, in Suffolk, Va.

  • Recent victories include the 2021 Georgia Mid-Amateur, 2021 National Senior Hall of Fame and the 2020 Senior Jones Cup
