2025 Championship | Mike McCoy, 62, of Des Moines, Iowa, became the first player in USGA history to claim both a U.S. Mid-Amateur and U.S. Senior Amateur with his 3-and-2 triumph over Greg Sanders at Oak Hills Country Club, in San Antonio, Texas. Oak Hills, which was scheduled to host in 2028, took the championship because Biltmore Forest, in Asheville, N.C., was still recovering from Hurricane Helene. McCoy was competing in his 63rd USGA championship. He won the U.S. Mid-Amateur in 2013, two years before representing the USA in the Walker Cup Match at Royal Lytham & St. Annes, in England. He also captained the victorious USA side in 2024 in Scotland at the Old Course at St. Andrews. To read more, click here. |
Quotable | “I'm so honored to win a USGA championship. I love the USGA. A lot of my golfing history has sort of been built upon their championships and trying to get to them and advance and someday win one, and I finally did, and, of course, I never dreamed I'd win another one... so it's been a dream come true.” -- Mike McCoy |
