The USGA has added two exemption categories for both the U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship and the U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship, beginning in 2023.
The champions of the European Mid-Amateur Men’s Championship and the Canadian Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship will be exempt from qualifying for the 42nd U.S. Mid-Amateur at Sleepy Hollow Country Club, in Scarborough, N.Y., and Fenway Golf Club, in Scarsdale, N.Y., Sept. 9-14.
The winners of the European Mid-Amateur Ladies’ Championship and Canadian Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship will earn exemptions into the 36th U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur to be played Sept. 9-14 at Stonewall’s North Course, in Elverson, Pa.
Bogogno Golf Resort, in Bogogno, Italy, will host both the European Mid-Amateur Men’s and European Mid-Amateur Ladies’ championships, June 8-10. The Canadian Men’s Mid-Amateur will be held Aug. 21-24 at Algonquin Golf Course, in St. Andrews, New Brunswick, Canada. The Canadian Women’s Mid-Amateur will be staged at Mad River Golf Club, in Creemore, Ontario, Canada, July 25-27.
The champions of the U.S. Mid-Amateur and U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur are awarded exemptions into the following year’s U.S. Open and U.S. Women’s Open, respectively.
