Waverley C.C. Ready for Next Chapter in Illustrious USGA History

Waverley Country Club in Portland, Ore., has seen its share of USGA history, and the 5th U.S. Senior Women’s Open will add to that chapter.

In 1970, Lanny Wadkins, a future major champion, won the U.S. Amateur. Twenty-three years later, Tiger Woods completed an unprecedented three-peat of the U.S. Junior Amateur, rallying from 2 down with two to play to defeat future PGA Tour winner Ryan Armour in 19 holes. In between, Juli Inkster captured the second of her three consecutive U.S. Women’s Amateur titles.

Inkster is one of three players to win a USGA Open and Amateur title at the same venue (Prairie Dunes).

Now she’ll look for a Waverley double.
