Noto navigated both stages of qualifying to earn his first U.S. Senior Open start. After carding a 71 at Wynlakes Golf & Country Club on April 9, he managed a 2-under 70 at Treyburn Country Club, in Durham, N.C., to garner one of the five available berths to Scioto. Noto birdied his final hole to shoot 70. Noto was highly emotional upon getting into the field as the golf professional at Omni Grove Park, in Asheville, N.C., had been attempting to qualify for a USGA championship over the last 40 years. Like Scioto C.C., Omni Grove Park is a Donald Ross design.
