Final Qualifying: Shot 70 at Miami Valley Golf Club, in Dayton, Ohio, on June 1

Werkmeister will make his sixth U.S. Senior Open start after getting into the field as the first alternate from the Miami Valley Golf Club site. He shot a 70. Werkmeister was a semifinalist in the 2014 U.S. MId-Amateur at Saucon Valley Country Club. He also led Michigan to the final USGA Men's State Team Championship at the Country Club of Birmingham (Ala.) in 2014. Werkmeister was a longtime amateur before turning professional at age 50. He was inducted into the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame in 2014. He's won 10 Golf Association of Michigan titles, including a pair of MIchigan Amateurs in 2009 and 2016, and the Michigan Open in 2013. He is a five-time Golf Association of Michigan Player of the Year. He also was a junior college All-American at Macomb Community College in 1987.
