Nakamura qualified for his fourth U.S. Senior Open, but first since 2018. He navigated both stages of the qualifying process, shooting 71 in his local at Goose Creek Golf Club, and then a 1-under 70 at El Caballero Country Club. He is a teaching professional at the Aviara Resort near San Diego. Since 2003, Golf Digest has named him as one of the top teachers in California. Nakamura has won more than 30 Southern California PGA Section events, including the San Diego PGA Stroke Play and Match Play Championships, and was runner-up in the SCPGA Championship. Besides his three Senior Opens, he also qualified for on Senior PGA Championship.
