The Aledo, Texas, resident survived both stages of qualifying to earn his first U.S. Senior Open start. He carded a 69 in his local qualifier on April 6 at Riverbend Country Club, in Sugar Land, Texas, and another 69 at his final qualifier on June 1 at Golfcrest Country Club, in Pearland, Texas. Turner attended Weatherford (Texas) Community College before turning professional in 2000. He has competed on both the Nationwide Tour (now Korn Ferry Tour) and PGA Tour. He won the 2009 Soboba Classic on the Nationwide Tour for one of his three professional victories. He also won the Waterloo Open in 2000 and 2004.
