The teaching professional at The Golf Club at Rancho California, in Murrieta, navigated both stages of qualifying to earn his second consecutive U.S. Senior Open start. He carded a 70 at Goose Creek Golf Club in local qualifying, and then fired a 4-under 67 at El Caballero Country Club in final qualifying. Meichtry missed the cut last year The Broadmoor. He also qualified for the 2005 U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2. Meichtry has won more than 50 local and regional tournaments over the past 20 years.
