McLean will make his third U.S. Open start after being added to the field as the first alternate from the Oregon, Wis., qualifier. He edged Sean McCarty in a playoff for the spot after posting 71. He advanced to final qualifying after shooting a 77 at Muskegon (Mich.) Country Club. He replaced two-time U.S. Senior Open champion Kenny Perry in the field. Since turning 50, McLean has made 10 of 11 cuts on the PGA Tour Champions. McLean is a teaching professional at Echo Valley Golf Club, in London, Ontario, Canada.. He also has played on the European Tour (now DP World Tour), Korn Ferry Tour, Sunshine Tour and PGA Tour Canada. He owns three professional victories and once made nine birdies in a row at a tournament. In 2024, he won the PGA of Canada Senior PGA Championship in a playoff that included a round of 60.
