The San Diego, Calif., native will make his second U.S. Senior Open start after being added to the field as the first alternate from the El Caballero Country Club final qualifier. Riley originally was the odd man out of a 3-for-2 playoff for the final spots. Riley attended the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, becoming the first four-year All-American in any sport at the school. He also represented the USA on the 1995 Walker Cup Team. As a professional, Riley won twice, including the 2002 Reno-Tahoe Open on the PGA Tour. He also won the 2007 Rochester Area Charities Showdown on the Nationwide Tour (now Korn Ferry Tour). He qualified for the 2024 U.S. Senior Open and finished tied for 51st. In 2002, he finished third in the PGA Championship., and was named to the 2004 U.S. Ryder Cup Team.
