Royak, the 2019 U.S. Senior Amateur champion, will make his fifth U.S. Senior Open start after carding a 2-under-par 70 at Treyburn Country Club, in Durham, N.C., on May 19. Royak has enjoyed a decorated amateur career. He is a former New York State Boys Junior Amateur champion (1979) who has shined since turning 50. He won the 2025 Georgia Senior Open. Also in 2025, he reached the quarterfinals of the U.S. Senior Amateur, the finals of the Georgia Senior Match Play, won the Reynolds Senior Invitational at Great Waters and the Crump Cup Memorial Tournament-Senior Division at Pine Valley. He was a semifinalist in the 2026 Georgia Senior Match Play. In 2023, he advanced to the semifinals of the U.S. Senior Amateur. He is a seven-time Georgia State Golf Association Senior Player of the Year. Royak grew up just outside of Albany, N.Y. His brother, Paul, also is an accomplished amateur golfer. Royak played golf at the University of Tampa and was a third-team Division II All-American. He was inducted into the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame in 2024
