Final Qualifying: Shot 71 at The Bear's Club, in Jupiter, Fla., on June 3

Micheel will tee it up in the U.S. Senior Open for a second time, and first since 2019, after posting 1-under 71 at The Bear's Club on June 3. He garnered one of the last two spots in a five-man playoff. Micheel is best known for winning the 2003 PGA Championship at Oak Hill Country Club. Born in Orlando, Fla., Micheel spent his childhood in Memphis, Tenn., before matriculating at Indiana University. In 1992, he turned professional. Micheel taught himself how to play the game after his parents bought a home in Memphis next to a course. He was ranked 169th in the Official World Golf Ranking when he claimed the 2003 PGA for what is  his only win on the PGA Tour. He also finished runner-up to Tiger Woods in the 2006 PGA at Medinah (Ill.) Country Club. His first professional win came in the 1998 Ericsson Singapore Open on the Asia Tour. He also registered one win on the Nike Tour (now Korn Ferry Tour). Later in his career, he dealt with several medical issues, including heart surgery in 2014 where he had four stents inserted. He made a double-eagle 2 on the par-5 sixth hole at Pebble Beach during the 2010 U.S. Open, where he tied for 22nd.
