F-17: Top 40 leaders from the all-time PGA Tour Champions money list
The former Oklahoma State All-American and USA Walker Cup competitor is set to make his 11th U.S. Senior Open start. At Oklahoma State, Verplank helped the Cowboys win the 1983 NCAA title. He later went on to win the 1984 U.S. Amateur and 1986 NCAA individual championship. While still an amateur, Verplank captured the 1985 Western Open in Chicago, becoming the first amateur in 29 years to win a PGA Tour event. His professional debut came in the 1986 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills. Verplank went on to capture five PGA Tour titles, the last coming in the 2007 EDS Byron Nelson Championship. He represented the USA in the 1984 World Amateur Team Championship and 1985 Walker Cup. He was a member of two U.S. Ryder Cup and two Presidents Cup teams. His best finish in a major was a tie for fourth in the 2011 PGA Championship.
