Golf Cart Safety Policy
Golf cart safety is of paramount importance, and we must all remain vigilant regarding the safe use of golf carts. Failure to comply in any respect will be considered a material breach of our agreement.
- Drivers must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license. Drivers must comply with all tournament/facility traffic signage and safety policies.
- Golf cart use is to be restricted to designated and trained volunteers, staff, and/or vendors only. Carts are to be used only on official business.
- Each golf cart should remain in the control of the assigned driver and may not be loaned out. Each cart is assigned to a specific person or volunteer. Do not remove or exchange any sign on a cart.
- Golf carts should be operated at a moderate speed, equivalent to a normal walk, in congested areas. Reduce speed to compensate for turns, inclines, pedestrians, and weather conditions, including when the grass is wet. Under wet conditions, the grounds may become slippery, and appropriate precaution should be observed for the safety of everyone.
- Vehicles, including golf carts, have no right of way and must yield to pedestrian traffic.
- No unauthorized riders or passengers are permitted in a golf cart at any time, and the number of passengers should never exceed the number of available seats:
- No more than 2 people may be on a 2‐person cart at any time. NO exceptions.
- No more than 4 people may be on a 4‐person cart at any time. NO exceptions.
- No standing is permitted on a moving cart by any person at any time.
- While your inclination may be to offer rides to elderly or infirmed attendees you see walking the course, or they may request a ride from you, at no time may you give a ride to a non‐staff member. This is a liability and insurance issue.
- If you witness any VIP guest (irrespective of who it is) commandeering a golf cart without a tournament/facility staff member present, please politely explain to them that the cart in question is reserved. If you encounter any resistance, please contact security for assistance.
- Never drive or ride on a cart while impaired by drugs, alcohol or fatigue, or if you otherwise have a physical restriction or medical or other condition that could impair your ability to drive or remain seated in a golf cart.
- Any mechanical issues with or damage to golf carts should be reported as soon as possible. Do not attempt to use or ride on a broken or damaged golf cart, or to perform any maintenance or service work on any golf cart.
- You must immediately report any injury or near miss, as well as any unsafe conditions, potential hazards, or other safety concerns.
- If you are giving a VIP Tour, the VIP Guests must be required to sign a waiver prior to the tour or ride to their destination on the course.
