Catching Up With First-Year USNJT Member Mia Clausen

Mia Clausen, 15, of Carlsbad, Calif., is a first-year member of the U.S. National Junior Team. Clausen, a member of Team Southern California in 2025, was one of three players on the current USNJT roster to be elevated this year. In May of 2026, she was one of 24 AJGA juniors to be offered an invitation to play in the Mizuho Americas Open alongside LPGA pros at Mountain Ridge Country Club, in West Caldwell, N.J. She has advanced to match play at each of the last two U.S. Girls’ Junior Championships, including a run to the Round of 16 in 2025, the same year she named an honorable-mention Rolex Junior All-America.

What was your reaction to the call where you made the U.S. National Junior Team? Who was the first person you told?

Clausen: “I was really excited when I got the call from the coaches. It’s so special and it is a team that a lot of juniors want to be on, so it was really rewarding to know that I got picked. The first person I told was [fellow San Diego resident] Anna [Fang], we go to the same course and we were practicing together that day.”

You’re one of the youngest on the team, what have you learned so far from the senior members and the coaches?

Clausen: “I’ve learned a lot. It’s great to be with other elite junior players. Not everyone’s golf game is perfect, we do a good job of picking up things from each other on the range and in drills.”

What is one thing you’ve taken from camps?

Clausen: “All the tests that we do have been really good to work with. Dialing in on your numbers and line tests so you have a baseline for when you go home is huge.”

What was your experience like on Team Southern California?

Clausen: The time with Team Southern California was so fun. It was the first time I had a team to work with and the resources that were available to us were so helpful. It was all part of the program, and you never had to worry about not having something available.”
