U.S. Junior Amateur Celebrating Diamond Anniversary
Happy 75th birthday to the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship. Since 1948, the best juniors in the country – and more recently the world – have descended on some of the nation’s finest venues to compete for the most prestigious prize in junior golf. Several champions have gone on to win majors, including Tiger Woods, Johnny Miller, David Duval, Jordan Spieth and Scottie Scheffler.
Even those who came up one win short of the trophy have become some of the game’s greats, a list that includes U.S. Open champions Ken Venturi and Andy North, along with Jay Sigel, Justin Thomas and Mr. 59, Al Geiberger.
This year, 264 competitors will arrive at Daniel Island Club in Charleston, S.C., hoping to add the next chapter in the glorious history of the U.S. Junior Amateur.
