Hollywood G.C. to Serve as Stroke-Play, Co-Host for 2029 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball

Hollywood Golf Club, in Deal, N.J., has been chosen as the stroke-play co-host venue for the 2029 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship. As previously announced, Metedeconk National Golf Club, in Jackson, N.J., will host both stroke play and all match-play rounds when the championship is played from May 19-23, 2029.

Nestled near the Jersey Shore, Hollywood Golf Club moved locations twice before settling on the property where it resides today. After opening for play in 1913, the club’s members hired three-time U.S. Amateur champion (1900, 1901, 1903) Walter J. Travis to completely redesign the course. The club is currently pursuing a full restoration to Travis’s original design intent with Renaissance Golf Design, a project that began in 2014 with Tom Doak and is ongoing with Brian Schneider as the architect of record.

“We are excited to once again be involved with a USGA championship,” said David Zimmel, president of Hollywood Golf Club. “On behalf of our entire membership, I would like to thank the USGA and Metedeconk National Golf Club for selecting our club to co-host this prestigious event. We look forward to hosting the best amateur golfers from around the world at our historic club.”

The 2029 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball will mark the third time the USGA will visit Hollywood Golf Club. In 1921, Hollywood held the U.S. Women’s Amateur, and in 2014, the club played host to the U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur.

The 2029 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball will be the first USGA championship hosted at Metedeconk National Golf Club and will mark the second U.S. Amateur Four-Ball conducted in the state of New Jersey, following the 2025 championship at Plainfield Country Club.

The U.S. Amateur Four-Ball’s starting field of 128 sides (256 players) will play two rounds of stroke play, with the low 32 sides (64 players) advancing to match play. Five 18-hole rounds of match play will determine the champion. The champions are awarded an exemption into that year’s U.S. Amateur, which in 2029 will be held at Inverness Club, in Toledo, Ohio.

This year’s U.S. Amateur Four-Ball will be contested at Desert Mountain Club (Cochise) in Scottsdale, Ariz., from May 16-20. Desert Mountain’s Outlaw course will serve as the stroke-play co-host course.
