Beck/Walters Duo Come to Kiawah After Medaling at U.S. Open Local Qualifiers
Looking for a hot side entering this weekend’s U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship? Evan Beck and Dan Walters will arrive at Kiawah Island (S.C.) Club fresh off earning medalist honors at a pair of U.S. Open local qualifiers.
Beck, the 2008 U.S. Junior Amateur runner-up, posted a 65 at Keswick (Va.) Hall (Full Cry Course) on May 16, while Walters, who was an assistant coach at Wake Forest when Beck played for the Demon Deacons, shot a 68 to lead the field at Hillendale Country Club in Phoenix, Md., on May 11. The duo advanced to the semifinals of last year’s U.S. Amateur Four-Ball at the Country Club of Birmingham (Ala.).
Seven others in the field also advanced to final qualifying, including 2017 U.S. Mid-Amateur champion Matt Parziale. The others are Joel B. Johnson, Lucas Scherf, Brad Tilley, Will Wears, Ryan Wilkins and Davis Woodliff.
