Last 4 Spots in Match-Play Draw Finalized Via Playoff
It took less than 30 minutes and one hole, but the 8-for-5 playoff that began Sunday evening concluded on Monday morning shortly before 7:30 a.m. PDT at The Home Course. Four sides made a 3 on the 159-yard 14th hole against one lone bogey, trimming the field to an exact number of 32 for match play.
Camila and Sophia Burnett, of Bluffton, S.C., made it three sister tandems qualifying for match play. They joined Molly and Morgan Smith, and twins Jessica and Sarah Spicer. The Burnett sisters attend the University of South Carolina.
Xavier University teammates Emma McMyler and Abby Whittington also advanced. McMyler qualified for last year’s U.S. Women’s Open at Pine Needles. California teens Katherine Gerbing, 16, of Cypress, and Zoe Wynn, 15, of Irvine, also advanced along with 2022 semifinalists Amelia Guo, 17, of Seabrook, Texas, and Grace Jin, 18, of Huntsville, Texas.
University of Colorado teammates Malak Bouraeda and Morgan Miller advanced on Sunday with a birdie on the second playoff hole.
