Rallied with a final-round 66 to defeat Hiroyuki Fujita in a playoff that would last four holes to claim the 2024 U.S. Senior Open at historic Newport (R.I.) Country Club. The final round concluded on Monday morning due to weather issues on Sunday and after Bland and Fujita were tied after 72 holes, the two had a two-hole aggregate playoff. Still tied, the two replayed the 18th hole a second and third time with Bland nearly holing a bunker shot on the fourth playoff hole to secure the title. Bland was a late addition to the championship after winning the Senior PGA Championship. At age 48, Bland became the oldest winner in European Tour history when he claimed the 2021 Betfresh British Masters in his 478th start on the cicruit. Bland then decided to join LIV Golf in 2022.
