The former UCLA standout is set to make his eighth U.S. Senior Open start. The Scottsdale, Ariz., resident has made the most of his second stint as a professional, winning three PGA Tour Champions events, including the 2019 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship. His last victory came at the 2024 Rogers Charity Classic. Tanigawa, who was born in Japan but is now an American citizen, first turned professional after playing at UCLA. He competed on the Japan Golf Tour, Gateway Tour and Ben Hogan Tour (now Korn Ferry), winning the 2000 Learning Classic on the Gateway Tour. He then regained his amateur status and twice won the Arizona Amateur in 2015 and 2017, and collected a pair of Arizona Mid-Amateur titles (2014, 2015).
