The Canadian's career blossomed once he turned 50 and was eligible for the PGA Tour Champions. Of his 20 worldwide victories, nine have come since joining the senior circuit. Ames registered three victories in 2024: the Boeing Classic, Chubb Classic and Mitsubishi Electric Classic. This came after a four-win campaign in 2023. Born in Trinidad and Tobago, a citizenship he held since 2004. He then became a citizen of Canada in 2005 through marriage. Ames played for the College of Boca Raton (Fla.) before embarking on a professional career in 1987. Ames' biggest professional win came in The Players Championship in 2006, where he won by six strokes over Retief Goosen. He also posted a pair of victories on the European Tour (now DP World Tour).
