F-1: Winner of 2018 U.S. Senior Open
The Louisiana native and former LSU standout made the 2018 U.S. Senior Open at The Broadmoor (East Course) his first victory on the 50-and-older circuit. Toms nearly defended his title a year later on the Warren Course at Notre Dame, only to be edged by the brilliant play of Steve Stricker. Toms has managed three more PGA Tour Champions titles, the last at the 2023 Galleri Classic. During his days on the regular PGA Tour, Toms won 13 times, including the 2001 PGA Championship when he outdueled Phil Mickelson at the Atlanta Athletic Club. His last PGA Tour victory remains the 2011 Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial. Toms' son, Carter, followed his footsteps to LSU, and is an outstanding player in his own right. In 2003, Toms created the David Toms Foundation for the purpose of helping underprivileged, abused and abandoned children. Grants are made to programs that are designed to bolster a child's self-esteem, and help him or her develop into a productive citizen. His foundation raised more than $1.5 million for Hurricane Katrina relief. For his efforts, Toms shared the 2006 Golf Writers Association of America's Charlie Bennett Award with fellow Louisianans Kelly Gibson and Hal Sutton.
