Catching Up with USNJT Member Asterisk Talley

Asterisk Talley is in her third year as a member of the U.S. National Junior Team. She became the first junior girl to win multiple Sage Valley Junior Invitationals this March. In 2025, Talley competed in the U.S. Women’s Open Presented by Ally, earned co-medalist honors at the U.S. Women’s Amateur, won the Girl’s Junior PGA Championship, and was runner-up at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur. The Chowchilla, Calif., resident is currently the top-ranked junior in the WAGR at No. 11.

How has being a part of this team helped you in your golf journey?

Talley: Being a part of this team has helped me in my journey by learning how to better structure my practice schedule and by looking further into my game to see what I really need to work on. All of us on the same team representing the U.S. gives us a new way to connect and help each other with our games and really support one another.

Who in the program has had the biggest impact on you? Why?

Talley: Coach Zambri for my golf game, he is always trying to see where I can improve in my game and helping me out with my practice structure. Mary Kate Lynch is the hardest worker I know. She is always making people happy and makes our time on the national junior team a great experience.

What are some things practice-wise you take home with you from national junior team camps?

Making practice more meaningful. Sometimes I go out just to hit balls and I feel like I am practicing, but now I do certain drills and am more intentional with my time on the range. Getting to see my stats and see where my game is at and what I need to work on is really helpful.

What is it like representing the United States at such a young age?

Talley: Being here so long and still being so young is a great feeling. It’s fun getting to represent your country with your friends all doing something that we love. Our two camps a year are always a highlight when we are all together. To have the support of the coaches and program means everything to us and it has been a great experience from the start.

What is the strongest part of your game? What’s one thing you’ve been working on lately?

Talley: My driver has been really strong, I love the way I’m hitting it off the tee right now. I’ve worked on my ball striking a lot more lately and that part of my game is in a better spot. My putting has been pretty good, I think that part of the game can always use a little work.
