El Caballero Country Club Chosen to Host 2024 U.S. Girls' Junior

The United States Golf Association has selected El Caballero Country Club, in Tarzana, Calif., as the host site of the 2024 U.S. Girls’ Junior. The 75th edition of the championship will take place from July 15-20.

“The USGA is excited to return to El Caballero Country Club and continue the legacy of hosting the U.S. Girls’ Junior at some of the country’s finest golf courses,” said Tracy Parsons, championship director. “The support from the El Caballero membership has been incredible and we look forward to continuing to build USGA history here.”

The club hosted the 2018 U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship where Colorado State University golfers Katrina Prendergast and Ellen Secor defeated Lei Ye and Yachun Chang, 1 up, in the final match. The club has also hosted several USGA qualifiers, including for the U.S. Open, U.S. Amateur and U.S. Senior Open.

Additionally, El Caballero was a three-time host of the LPGA Tour’s Office Depot Championship, which was won by U.S. Women’s Open champions Se Ri Pak in 2002 and Annika Sorenstam in 2003 and 2004.

“El Caballero is honored to host its second USGA championship,” said Phil Lopez, general manager of El Caballero Country Club. “The 2018 U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball was a huge success, and we know that the 2024 U.S. Girls’ Junior will be even better. We look forward to welcoming the most talented junior golfers to our club and watching the championship unfold.”

Named for the creek that meanders through the San Fernando Valley property, the golf course was designed in 1957 and was redesigned by Robert Trent Jones Sr. from 1963 until 1964 and was recently renovated in 2021 by Rees Jones. With sustainability at top of mind, all turfgrass was replaced with hybrid Bermuda grass, a more drought and heat resistant turf, to ultimately lead to less water usage.

The 2024 U.S. Girls’ Junior will be the 90th USGA championship contested in California. In 2023, the Golden State will host the 123rd U.S. Open at The Los Angeles Country Club; the 78th U.S. Women’s Open Presented by ProMedica at Pebble Beach Golf Links; the 123rd U.S. Women’s Amateur at Bel-Air Country Club, in Los Angeles; and the 68th U.S. Senior Amateur at Martis Camp Club, in Truckee.

The 2023 U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship will be played from July 17-22 at Eisenhower Golf Course at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo. Additional future U.S. Girls’ Junior host sites include:

  • Atlanta Athletic Club, Johns Creek, Ga. – July 14-19, 2025
  • Old Chatham Golf Club, Durham, N.C. – July 13-18, 2026
  • Oakland Hills Country Club, Bloomfield Hills, Mich. – TBD, 2038
  • Bandon Dunes Golf Resort, Bandon, Ore. – TBD, 2035 and 2045
