F-17: Top 40 leaders from the all-time PGA Tour Champions money list
One of the all-time fan favories for his engaging personality and free-flowing swing, Couples will look to keep his perfect cut streak intact in his seventh U.S. Senior Open start. The 1992 Masters champion nearly claimed the 2010 U.S. Senior Open in his hometown of Seattle, Wash., but was edged by Bernhard Langer at Sahalee Country Club. Tbe 2013 World Golf Hall of Fame inductee claimed 15 PGA Tour titles (64 worldwide), his last coming in the 2003 Houston Open. Couples played collegiately at the University of Houston, where his roommate was future CBS lead play-by-play man Jim Nantz. At the age of 19, he defeated Don Bies in a playoff to capture the 1978 Washington State Open. He turned professional in 1980. He was named the PGA Tour Player of the Year in 1991 and 1992. Since turning 50, Couples has claimed 14 PGA Tour Champions titles, including 2011 Constellation Senior Players Championship and The Senior Open Championship in 2012 at the Turnberry Resort in Scotland. He was a member of five United States Ryder Cup Teams and four Presidents Cup Teams. He also captained three U.S. Presidents Cup Teams (2009, 2011, 2013).
