Veteran McCoy Poised to Guide USA Walker Cup Team at St. Andrews

Mike McCoy’s long association with the USGA made him an ideal choice to captain the 2023 USA Walker Cup Team when the Match is contested in September on the Old Course at St. Andrews (Scotland). Not only has the native Iowan represented his country in the biennial competition (2015 at Royal Lytham & St. Annes), but he’s competed in 65 USGA championships, which includes the 2013 U.S. Mid-Amateur title when, at age 50, he became the event’s second-oldest champion.

The 59-year-old’s easy-going personality and veteran presence should provide the proper guidance for the 10 talented competitors who will look to retain the Cup against Great Britain & Ireland.
